New York Jets’ Jordan Travis Announces Retirement After 1 Season Due To College Injury
New York Jets quarterback Jordan Travis is retiring at 24.
The fifth-round 2024 draft pick suffered a gruesome leg injury on Nov. 18, 2023, during his final game at Florida State.
“On November 18, 2023, my life took an unexpected turn,” Travis said via team statement. “I gave everything I had to the rehab process but despite all my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped.”
He continued, “After much prayer and consultation with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I’ve been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply.” The Jets had traded up for Jordan Travis, hoping he could eventually develop into a backup or starter.
“Jordan has informed us of his intent to retire due to the injury he sustained while at Florida State,” said Jets GM Darren Mougey. “It is unfortunate that he was unable to get back on the field after working so hard. We support his decision and wish him only the best.”
Jordan Travis signed a 4 year, $4,274,276 contract with the New York Jets, including $254,276 signing bonus, $254,276 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,068,569.
In 2025, Travis was slated to earn a base salary of $840,000, while carrying a cap hit of $903,569.
