Snoop Dogg Says His 30 Years of Community Work ‘Should Matter More’ While Addressing Backlash Over Trump Inauguration Weekend Performance
Snoop Dogg isn’t losing sleep over the backlash he faced after performing during Trump’s Inauguration weekend earlier this year.
The rap legend addressed the controversy with The Breakfast Club, arguing that his decades of community service should outweigh a half-hour performance. He stated:
“I DJ’d at the Crypto Ball for what 30 minutes…30 years Snoop Dogg been doing great things for the community. Building, showing up, standing up for the community, making it happen, being all I can be. So which is it? 30 minutes or 30 years?”

Snoop acknowledged that some fans and peers came to his defense, but he didn’t feel the need to respond to critics until now because he’s always stood on his own identity, not politics. He added:
“My work should speak for me. Don’t take my personal or my business and try to involve it in my life or who I am as a person. The things I do in real life should matter to you more.”
If you missed it: Snoop came under fire for DJing at the Crypto Ball during Donald Trump’s inauguration weekend. The internet quickly pointed to his past remarks during Trump’s 2016 presidency, where he referred to Black performers involved with Trump events as “jigga-boo a** n***as.”
Now, Snoop wants the public to focus on his decades-long track record of advocacy and youth work, not just one controversial booking.
