Kyrie Irving Donates $50K To Tamir Rice Youth Center Fund + Becomes Top Contributor To Campaign Honoring Police $hooting Victim
Kyrie Irving is making headlines for his generous support of the Tamir Rice Youth Center, a project in honor of 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was k*lled by Cleveland police in 2014.
On June 25, Irving appeared as a GoFundMe donor, contributing $50,000—the largest donation among over 1,200 supporters—bringing the campaign to $86,595 of its $110,000 goal.
The fundraiser was launched by Tamir’s mother, Samira Rice, through the Tamir Rice Foundation.
“I have already invested into this beautiful historical building with you all support,” Rice shared. “The help you all already have given Tamir’s legacy we are forever appreciative. I will not let my community down or anyone who believe in the vision. Trust me you will see the results.”
Irving has long championed social justice. In 2014, he wore an “I Can’t Breathe” shirt during warmups, honoring Eric Garner. His latest act continues his legacy of advocacy through action.
