Ghostface Killah claims Diddy played a role in keeping Wu-Tang off the radio when their second album, Wu-Tang Forever, dropped.
On The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Ghostface recalled the group having tension with Hot 97 before their Summer Jam ’97 performance. Their “f*ck Hot 97” chant during the show led to the station cutting off their records. He said, “They [Hot 97] cut our records off that day, they didn’t play no Wu sh*t no more. That’s when Puffy was really getting on his sh*t.”

He added that RZA told him about a year ago that Diddy admitted to helping block their songs, seemingly because the group’s success made him see them as a threat: “It was all Bad Boy. We dropped ‘Triumph,’ no radio play with that sh*t. So it came out that he told the truth, like, ‘Yo, I had to do it.’ … He had the power. I don’t know what he paid ’em, but he had the power. … Listen, we was a threat.”
