Diddy’s Legal Team Pushes For Hearing After Nexstar Media Moves To Dismiss $100 Million Defamation Lawsuit
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team is asking a New York federal judge to schedule oral arguments in his ongoing lawsuit against #NexstarMedia Inc. and attorney Ariel Mitchell.
In a letter dated Oct. 29 to Judge John P. Cronan at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse in Manhattan, Diddy’s attorneys requested a hearing on the defendants’ motions to dismiss his amended complaint. #Diddy originally filed the $50 million lawsuit in January against Nexstar, Mitchell, and her client, Courtney Burgess, accusing them of spreading fabricated and defamatory claims.
The suit alleges Burgess falsely stated that he had videos of Diddy s3xually assaulting celebrities and minors, and that Nexstar “recklessly repeated and amplified those lies” in its coverage. Diddy later amended the complaint, increasing damages sought to $100 million. Mitchell has since filed a motion to dismiss, arguing that the record exec failed to show her comments demonstrated “a reckless disregard for the truth.”
