Funkmaster Flex Says He’s Not Replacing ‘Ebro in the Morning’ After Show Is Axed at Hot 97: “I’m Only Filling In for One Day”
Hot 97’s long-running morning show “Ebro in the Morning” has officially come to an end, and while fans quickly speculated about what—or who—might come next, Funkmaster Flex is setting the record straight.
After Hot 97 teased a post reading “Flex in the Morning?”, Flex jumped into the comments to clarify that he is not taking over the time slot permanently. “So we are clear! I’m only covering tomorrow only! (One day),” Flex wrote, adding that he plans to discuss the situation on air. He also took time to praise Ebro Darden, Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez, calling Ebro’s passion and dedication to radio “unmatched.”
Flex went on to reflect on his long history with Ebro, saying they’ve “been to war together” during times when others wouldn’t stand by them, making it clear his appearance is more about respect than replacement. He later reinforced the message on Instagram Stories, reiterating, “I’m only doing one day! Easy!”
As previously reported, “Ebro in the Morning” officially wrapped after years as a staple of Hot 97’s lineup, marking the end of an era for the New York station. The departure of Ebro Darden, Rosenberg, and Laura Stylez has sparked major conversation across the culture, with listeners closely watching how Hot 97 plans to move forward.
For now, Funkmaster Flex’s brief return to mornings is temporary, and Hot 97’s next permanent move remains unclear—but one thing is certain: the end of Ebro in the Morning has left a major void in New York radio.
