YouTube Hit w/ Major U.S. Outage As Over 320,000 Users Report Service Disruptions
More than 320,000 users across the United States reported problems accessing YouTube Tuesday evening, according to outage tracking data, which was shared by Reuters.
YouTube experienced widespread disruptions on February 17, with Downdetector.com logging 321,958 user-reported incidents as of 8:18 p.m. ET. The website, which monitors service interruptions by compiling status reports from various sources, showed a sharp spike in complaints as users struggled to load videos and access the platform.
The outage appeared to extend beyond the main site. YouTube TV recorded 8,923 issue reports on Downdetector, while Google had 2,694 reports tied to potential service disruptions.
It remains unclear what caused the interruption or how long the issues lasted for affected users.
Downdetector data is based on user-submitted reports, meaning the total number of impacted users could vary.
