James Harden Arrested In Houston On Misdemeanor G*n Charge, Released Hours Later
NBA star James Harden is making headlines after being arrested in Houston early Saturday morning on a misdemeanor weapons charge.
According to Harris County court records, Harden was taken into custody after police reportedly spotted a handgun in plain view inside the Mercedes he was driving in downtown Houston around 3:40 a.m. Authorities allege the weapon was sitting in a cup holder and was not properly concealed. Harden reportedly acknowledged that the gun belonged to him before being arrested.
The 36-year-old was booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of unlawfully carrying a weapon, a misdemeanor offense under Texas law. Court records show Harden was later released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 22.
As part of the conditions of his release, reports indicate Harden is prohibited from possessing firearms and must comply with additional bond requirements while the case remains pending.
The former Houston Rockets star currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Neither Harden nor his representatives had publicly addressed the arrest as of publication.
