NAACP Joins Legal Team Representing Family Of Nolan Wells
The NAACP has added its legal muscle to the case of #NolanWells, the 18-year-old football player who mysteriously d!ed during a July Fourth boat trip with friends to #HornIsland.
On Monday, the organization’s Office of General Counsel confirmed it would work alongside the family’s legal team, noting that the full circumstances of his de@th still haven’t been adequately accounted for. “We’re taking up this fight to search for truth and transparency surrounding the de@th of Nolan Wells,” said Kristen Clarke, the NAACP’s General Counsel, while President and CEO Derrick Johnson added that the family “deserves a thorough accounting of what happened.”
Unresolved questions continue to swirl around the case, including why Wells’ friends held onto his cellphone after he went missing and reports that messages were deleted from his social media accounts. The #NAACP’s involvement adds to the legal team led by civil rights attorney Ben Crump. The investigation remains active.
