EXCLUSIVE: ‘Married To Medicine’s’ Dr. Heavenly Reveals Her Most Profitable Venture & Why A Business Making Up To $11K A Month Wasn’t Worth Her Time

Dr. Heavenly Kimes is opening up about the money behind her different business ventures — including why she walked away from a beauty supply store that was reportedly turning a profit within its first year.

During an exclusive interview with theJasmineBrand founder @itsjasminebrand for “Visionaries Only,” the Married to Medicine star explained that she launched Heavenly Beauty with her daughter in mind. “I did Heavenly Beauty because I was doing it for my daughter,” she said. “My daughter was, you know, she’s a girly girl. She’s into hair and makeup and all that kind of stuff. I never was, but I wanted my daughter to have her own business and a business that I could help her with and deal with her.” Heavenly said her daughter was just 16 at the time.

The business apparently did well. Heavenly recalled, “It was a very viable business, meaning that I think we were doing between seven and $11,000 a month profit. And that was within the first year.” But things changed when her daughter decided to go away to college. Heavenly said, “She wanted to experience, you know, the college life and being away or whatever. I wasn’t going to run that business.” She added that keeping up with the operation without her daughter simply wasn’t something she wanted to take on.

Despite the store’s profitability, Heavenly said the numbers didn’t make sense when compared to what she could earn practicing dentistry. “Her $7,000 to $10,000 she was making a month was good for her, but that’s, you know, one implant for me,” she explained. “So it wasn’t my time.”

When asked which of her ventures has the best profit margin, Heavenly answered simply, “Dentistry. Yes.” She also acknowledged that her income from Married to Medicine ranks higher than she sometimes gives it credit for, explaining, “I don’t rank Married to Medicine as high as I could, but it’s probably up there with dentistry because we only filmed 12 weeks.” She continued, “So you look at the money I make in 12 weeks, then it’s actually comparable [to] what I make in a year.” Full interview loading …
