[UPDATED] Rapper Trina’s Brother Fatally Shot in Miami
Very sad news. NBC Miami has reported that the brother of rapper Trina, Wilbrent ‘Gonk’ Bain was killed Tuesday morning, around 10 a.m. A family friend and neighbor, named Rev. Gary Johnson, confirmed the news, telling the outlet:
“He’s a very good kid,” family friend the Rev. Gary Johnson said. “It’s unfortunate. It’s a terrible tragedy.”
So what actually happened? Allegedly, neighbors say that Trina’s brother (Gonk) and the man who shot him were friends and lived around the corner from each other. Mutual friends said they think an ongoing fight between the two got out of hand. According to police records, ‘Gonk’ survived a shooting in 2008 and had a record of gun possession, burglary, drugs, and domestic violence involving strangulation. Miami-Dade Police said someone is in custody, but they have not released that person’s name. No official statement has yet been released from Trina’s family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Updated: Tuesday night, Police said they have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the fatal shooting. Ron Dobson faces a second-degree murder charge, police said in an arrest affidavit. It wasn’t immediately known whether he has an attorney. NBC Miami reports that the two men had a dispute, and the victim began to get off his bicycle when Dobson took a firearm from his waistband and shot him multiple times. After he was read his Miranda rights, Dobson confessed to his involvement in the victim’s death. Watch the clip.
