Ex-Basketballer Steve Francis Accused of Sexual Harassment
Unfortunately, today we have another alleged basketball player scandal. This time it involves ex-basketball player Steve Francis. For those who are unfamiliar, he was the second select in the 1999 NBA draft, picked for the Vancouver Grizzlies. He was quickly transferred to the Houston Rockets after publicly announcing that he did not want to play for the Grizzlies. He later played for the Orlando Magic and New York Knicks before finishing his career with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2010.
Besides basketball, Francis also has a love for music which led to the opening of his own music label a few years ago. It appears that the label has produced more scandal than music since it is related to his current sexual assault charge. A female singer has filed a lawsuit against Francis, claiming that he groped her while at a meeting set up to go over her contract for the music label. According to TMZ, the singer, Shauna Simien, says that she and Francis were walking and talking when he “reached down and grabbed her between the legs.” She claims that she screamed for him to stop and then her friends, whom she’d brought along for protection, appeared to help her. Wow, smart thinking. Did she know that Francis would be the inappropriate type? I guess that’s a detail that will come out when the case is actually taken care of. Simien says that although she filed the suit immediately after the situation took place in May 2010, it is still open and no charges have been filed. She is even thinking about filing another law suit against the District Attorney’s Office for taking so long. That’s right girl, rack up all the money as you deserve!
