Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston Prepare for ‘Sparkle’ Release
The remake of the 1976 film ‘Sparkle’ is due to release in theaters on August 10th staring Whitney Houston, 48 and Jordin Sparks, 22 opposite each other. The film, which chronicles the challenges faced by group of singing sisters once they hit it big, is actually Houston‘s first major Hollywood project since 1996’s ‘The Preacher’s Wife’. Both Sparks and Houston are very excited to be working on this film.
Of working with Houston, Sparks explained,
“I sang her songs into a hairbrush when I was little. Now she’s acting as my mom and scolding me. It was a dream come true.”
On the set:
“She was so cool and very motherly toward me. If I ever looked like I needed something, here she came saying ‘Are you okay?'”
Of the production, Houston said,
“Part of the fun of making this movie is definitely the costumes and the hairstyles. The movie is set in 1963, and we had a great wardrobe, hair and makeup person and I loved wearing the outfits.”
If you haven’t seen the original ‘Sparkle’, make sure you catch it before August 10th!
