Is All That Color on Willow Smith’s Hair Healthy? A Professional Weighs In!

Ever since she hit the scene back in 2010 with “Whip My Hair”, we’ve seen Willow Smith go through a number of changes with her hair. It’s obvious that her parents let her express her creative side through her hair and wardrobe, but one can’t help but wonder what effect the constant dying has on her hair. We sat down with hair stylist, Sparkle, to give us insight on whether or not what Willow does to her hair is safe.
On how Willow Smith achieves such vibrant colors:
“Willow’s vibrant hair colors can be achieved by lifting the hair with bleach and then applying a color rinse afterward. The bleaching process is permanent.”
On what age is safe for a child to start coloring their hair:
“Only the parent can determine when hair coloring is age appropriate. I’m glad I don’t have to be the judge of that, I have boys!”
On if you have to go to a salon to get your hair colored:
“There are many hair coloring products that can be purchased at local dollar, drug and hair stores but I would not recommend someone attempt to experiment. Chemical services should be performed by licensed stylist only!”
On tips for keeping your hair healthy:
“Deep conditioning treatments are key along with the use of a good hair moisturizer. I’m a huge fan of KeraCare products.”
Stay tuned for Willow’s next hair color of choice.
