[Video] Dwyane Wade Visits ‘The View’ Talks: Custody Battle & New Book

NBA baller and now author Dwyane Wade stopped by The View Tuesday morning to discuss life after the championship and his new book, “A Father First.” He, of course, made small talk with the ladies about basketball and his big NBA Finals win but the main topic of discussion was his new book and his relationship with his ex-wife and mother of his sons, Siohvaughn Wade.

Peep some quotes from the interview and the video clip below.
On dealing with his personal issues & still being a father and athlete:
The first thing I had to think about was my boys…what was best for them was for their dad to show them that I fight for them.
On pursuing full custody:
Over the course of three years, it just kept piling up…if I can’t be their father I’m not whole…I wasn’t able to see them. The only way I could be a father first is by going for custody of them.
On how he survived his rough childhood:
I’m truly blessed…I never once blamed them for their path in life. It made me who I am today, good or bad, I learned from it.

Since his divorce (and arguably before, depends on who’s asking) he has been romantically linked to actress Gabrielle Union. Both Gabby and D. Wade tweeted their excitement for the book release and appearance on The View:
@dwyanewade Getting ready to join the ladies on The View. My mom & sis joining me.
@itsgabrielleu SO proud of author @dwyanewade! His book #AFatherFirst is available in bookstores & iTunes today!
It’s definitely refreshing to see a healthy high profile relationship and a father stepping in to do the best for his kids.
