CONFIRMED: Natina Reed of 90’s R&B Group, ‘Blaque’ Has Died + Group Releases Statement
Very tragic news. It is still unconfirmed, as an official statement from the family has been released. Former 90’s R&B singer, Natina Reed, died Friday evening. The news was initially reported by Diva Whispers. According to the site,
She was hit by a car, while walking across the street in Atlanta.
A number of sites are suggested that the accident was a ‘hit & run’. Natina was a member of the 90’s girl group Blaque (they penned the hit song “808”) and had continued working in the music industry as a songwriter. She also had small roles in the movie ‘Bring It On’ and ‘Honey’.
In 2011, she had been arrested for a DUI. She was 32 years old and had a child with Korrupt (of Dogg Pound). Stay tuned and please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. Updated 3 p.m. EST. AJC Reports:
Gwinnett County police spokesman Sgt Rich Long told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Saturday that he couldn’t confirm the identity of the victim but said police received a call around 10:27 p.m. Friday that a woman had been struck by a red Honda Accord on Lawrenceville Highway at Hamilton Road, just north of Lilburn. The woman was killed, Long said.
The publicist for Blaque has emailed an official statement from Brandi Williams and Shamari Fears-Devoe regarding the untimely passing of Blaque group member Natina Reed.
“We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natina Reed. Because of the enormous support of Blaque fans and our love for each another, Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show. Natina continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere. Natina was a mother, sister, accomplished songwriter, artist and friend. We ask for your prayers at this time for Natina’s family. She will forever be missed and her global influence eternally felt. We thank God for the experiences we shared.”
