Gloria Govan Takes Credit for BBall Wives Spin-Off, Shaunie O’Neal Responds
Monday evening, part 1 of the Basketball Wives LA reunion special aired. During the episode, Gloria Govan made a comment, as she and her reality co-star, Bambi, were arguing. In short, she explained that had it not been for her, a Basketball Wives LA spin-off show would not exist. As a backstory, initially, Gloria was casted on the original Basketball Wives, which was located in Miami. She spent two full seasons on the show, relocated to LA with her boyfriend at the time (Matt Barnes) and then became one of the lead cast members on the spin-off. There’s been speculation that the reason that she was put on the spin-off, was because one of the show’s creator, Shaunie O’Neal, no longer wanted her on the show. So what’s the big deal? After Gloria made the comment,
“Without me, there would have been no Basketball Wives LA spin-off,”
A few folk (in the reunion audience and on twitter) chimed in, giving their two cents.
In fact, the very vocal Evelyn Lozada (who has been on Basketball Wives-Miami for four seasons), was none too pleased when she heard about Gloria’s comments. On twitter, she wrote:

Gloria had a point. I think they took it literally. I don’t think Gloria meant it in that way. I believe she was referring to the fact that out of everyone that is on BBWLA she was on the original. People aren’t feeling her so some wouldn’t give her credit even if she were right.
There is not point to Gloria’s madness. Just because you are the “star” or “co-star” on several shows don’t make you the producer or the creator. And without the producer, which she is not, or the creator, which she is not, she is pretty much irrelevant. Period. I am happy she will not be returning to the show.

I agree with KP… Gloria being on BBW-Miami and then being cast on BBW-LA was one of the reasons I tuned into the LA spin-off. I doubt I wouldve been interested if it was cast with all new characters.
I think Gloria was basically trying to say Bambi needed to be more grateful b/c if it wasnt for the spin-off, we wouldnt even know what a Bambi was… (and i still dont)! LOOL

The fact that Shaunie & Evelyn responded cracks me up. I watched LA because Gloria switch, case closed. The Govans are some beautiful girls & I love that they are not afraid. As for Bambi, she is so irrelevant. She looked like a cheap $10 hooker last night. I don’t know who told her that she looked good but girl, please that ball gown, the cheap weave and the Artmatic lipstick was too hard on the focals.
First of all, Gloria did not say she created the show. She said she is the reason for the spin off and that would be correct. I remember Shaunie saying that she had nothing to do with the casting of Basketball Wives LA, so why get offended? As for Evelyn, I guess Iyanla couldn’t fix her life because she’s back to her ratchet a$$ self. Oprah and Iyanla should take note.
Gloria was correct in stated that she is the reason for this show, because most of us switched to LA to follow her (not to mention, to be rid of Evelyn’s child like temper tantrums). So before Evelyn feels the need to tweet smart ass comments, on fake Shaunie’s behalf…remember Iyanla’s advice & don’t go back down that ratchet road Ev, esp not for Shaunie (b/c we all know Shaunie was never a real friend to you, she played you harder than he did, then sat back and let you hang yourself in the name of entertainment).
Also, why the hell #VH1 even bother with the who should stay who should go game. Clearly, you already leaked your attempts to fire Gloria for getting married without you. So I feel like the producers of this show are childish/immature/teenagers or something b/c the shit y’all come up with is downright pathetic. BUT THEY (the producers) were childish in having them play that stupid ass (rigged) game as well. Its clearly producers are mad at Gloria, and instead of them owning up to wanting to fire her after it got leaked, they turn around and try to send not so subtle hints through the audience. No one clapped for Gloria to stay, I highly doubt EVERY PERSON that watches this show wants Gloria to leave (I personally like her most of all for being an independent woman and making a life outside this bullshit).
