Nivea Addresses Christina Milian, Co-Parenting With Lil Wayne & Considering Reality TV

Nivea: It has been a journey. Actually I have had a lot of time at home with my kids. I’m just now taking that time away. They’re at a certain age where I feel like I can do that.

Difficulties with the 2005 release of her album “Complicated”:

Nivea: We had to do a recall. It was actually quite a large group of artists from Sony as well as Jive. At the time I wasn’t receiving a lot of label support, so I was like you know what can you just let me out of my contract. “Complicated” actually never got redistributed ’cause I was out after that. I’m always shocked when fans even know about it.

On who is supporting for her current project:

Nivea: Right now, I’m independent. Looking for a label. I definitely would love label support. But it’s always been more important to me to tell the stories that I want to tell because it’s my story.

When asked if she would do reality TV:

Nivea: In the past I was approached by everybody and I was like no I don’t want to do that. I’m a singer…I’m a singer. However, the world is a different ball game as far as entertainment and doing what you need to do to be more present or in front of as many fans or as many people as possible. So it’s a great exposure tool, so I’m considering it now. I would love to do that [R&B Divas] because they definitely focus on the music.

On the status of between her and Christina Milian:

Nivea: Oh we have no status! Just kidding. [laughing] Child! I have no filter here. The status actually for me has been that we are mothers of siblings, who are co-siblings. It’s such a damn crazy *ss story. She married the same dude I did. She has a daughter by my ex-husband who is her now ex-husband as well… Now she’s dating my other baby daddy. So go figure. Only thing I was concerned about is Violet, her daughter is in my kids’ life. They love their little sister. That’s my main thing. All the other craziness is just people being crazy. There’s nothing I can do about that. I definitely don’t support the craziness, but it is what it is.

Co-parenting with Lil’ Wayne and The Dream:

Nivea: We are definitely very much great co-parents. He [Lil’ Wayne] is very much involved with Neal, his son with me and his other sons. The children front is good. As co-parents we are great. That’s all that matters.
