Niecy Nash Claims She Was Disinvited From A Party For Being Black
Niecy Nash is calling out Hollywood in a series of tweets that have since been deleted. According to the Claws actress, she was invited to the annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Will Rogers Polo Club in Los Angeles. She says she received the invite from Ashlee Margolis, the founder of The A List, a company founded in 2001, known for creating top-notch events and campaigns for fashion and lifestyle brands. However, Nash says that on Saturday, her invitation was rescinded. On the day of the event, Niecy tweeted:
I was invited by #AshleeMargolis to the @VeuveClicquot #VCPoloClassic event today… and then my invite was rescinded bcuz I was the wrong caliber of guest. 2x Emmy nominee. Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, #1 summer show Claws. NOT white let’s see who makes the cut… smh
Nash continued,
3 bottles of @VeuveClicquot in my fridge right now… it was my favorite until today #AshleeMargolis you should be ashamed of yourself & the way you do business. I wouldn’t come to your event if you paid me. Wait u wouldn’t. I’m not white. @VeuveClicquot #MyBlackIsBeautiful
Kendall Jenner was one of the many faces who attended the event but there were also tons of black people there as well — including Rosario Dawson, actor Harold Perrineau, Uber’s former Chief Brand Officer Bozoma Saint John, singer Ajiona Alexus and many other tastemakers and influencers.
Niecy Nash has since deleted her tweets and Ashlee Margolis has not responded to her publicly. It’s quite possible, as what happens often when these types of things occur, the company reached out to her behind the scenes.
