Laura Govan, Gilbert Arena’s Fiance, Clears the Air (Sorta)
Laura Govan, the sister of Basketball Wives co-star, Gloria Govan, has now taken the opportunity to clear the air. By the end of the show’s season, Laura’s sister, Gloria, seemed to be the least favorite of the cast.
From the start of the show, there were rumors that Laura, who is in a relationship with NBA’er Gilbert Arenas (they also have children together), had an affair with Shaquille O’Neal, Shaunie’s husband.
Laura is featured in the December issue of Sister 2 Sister magazine. Peep a few excerpts:
On why she didn’t join the cast of Basketball Wives: “I didn’t want to do it because I’ve never asked to be in the public eye. I’m educated. I want to make sure that my children have a role model in the sense of whatever that means to me. I want them to see that mommy is doing things other than being behind daddy and going to games and being cute.”
On how she met Gilbert Arenas: “I was in a master’s/PHD program, so as I was finishing my master’s, he would come and sit in the parking lot and wait for me for three hours. I thought, okay, you know what? He’s serious.”
On why they still aren’t married, after nine years: “People always ask us, ‘When are you getting married?’ When the time is right and when we’re ready.”
The full article that comes out in December will address the alleged rumors circulating her affair with Shaq.
