Biggie’s Son Was Uninterested in Playing His Dad in ‘Notorious’: “I didn’t want to do it.”
The late Notorious B.I.G.’s son, CJ Wallace, played him in the movie ‘Notorious’, but really wasn’t interested in playing the role of his father. He shared, “When I did Notorious, my grandma, Ms. [Voletta] Wallace, told me that I should come in and read for the part as my father. Honestly, I didn’t want to do it. I didn’t want to do it because it seemed so likely for me to do it, like Biggie’s son is going to play Biggie.”
The movie, which came out in 2009, was as an American biopic about the life of Christopher Wallace. The main character was played by Jamal Woolard (side-bar, I met him outside a NYC club, dude REALLY looked like a cute version of Biggie) and co-starred Angela Bassett (as his mother Voletta Wallace) Derek Luke (as Diddy), Anthony Mackie (as Tupac) and featured Natur Naughton (as Lil Kim) and Antonique Smith (as Faith Evans).
What changed his mind? “After I had my acting coach and really read through it, I started to find out things that I didn’t know about him. Then I took more of an interest into it. It was actually fun, going out to New York, living like him, going into his old apartment, doing what he did. It was cool.” Glad he changed his mind! CJ is now co-starring with Will Ferrell in a dark comedy called, Everything Must Go. Source
