Ouch! American Music Awards Brings In Lowest Ratings EVER

Not so pleasant news for the good folk at ABC. A day after the American Music Awards aired, reports share some not so impressive numbers. Despite having heavy hitters like Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift perform, American Music Awards 2012 pulls in lowest ratings ever.

What’s the math? According to ratings data issued on Monday, an average 9.5 million viewers tuned in, which is down from 12 million in 2011. The show dropped 21 percent of its viewers compared to last year in the key 18-49 demographic most prized by advertisers. So what was everyone else watching? Hell, we can’t call it, but according to our social media ‘friends’ (which we can’t call an accurate poll), folks were tuned into: Sunday Night Football, Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta, etc. If you watched last night’s awards show, what (if any) elements do you think were missing–big names, overall level of entertainment?

you might not be able to call them a trusted source, but look up the ratings for RHWOA for the previous week and then this past Sunday, I’m willing to BET there wasn’t a drop meaning they kept their viewers while the AMA’s didn’t. AND poor marketing. I didn’t even know it was coming on. Plus that’s a RHWOA and The Walking Dead night.

I started to watch it and I turned the channel. It was extremely predictable and I’m sick of the fact that America picks popularity over talent. After Nicki Minaj won Best HipHop Album of the Year…I was DONE

I know what it was. THere was not enough advertisement. Half the people didn’t know that it was coming on. Including myself and I love awards. Not promotion, how will the people know.
