Royce Reed Releases Statement, Defends Why Dwight Howard Should Pay Legal Fees
Over the weekend, reports hit that former Basketball Wives reality star, Royce Reed, was attempting to take her NBA baller baby-daddy (Dwight Howard) to the bank, literally. For the past few years, the two have been fighting for custody over for their 5-year-old son, Braylon.
And most recently, TMZ reported that Royce had asked a Florida judge to make Dwight pay her legal bills, claiming she can’t afford them. In short, she suggests that Dwight brings in over $1.3 million per month and should assist with the legal fees, otherwise, their custody battle is not fair. Her lawyer says she’s already spent $44,113.50 and is expected to pay another $60k plus if she continues to fight for a grand total of $106,621.80. Fast forward to the present day, and Royce has responded to news, explaining why she’s filing motions against Dwight. She posted the following message on Instagram:

As they say, we don’t know the WHOLE STORY but I think Dwight is mad because he got caught up and found out. Just from what’s out there, it appears as long as their relationship was on the hush hush, he didn’t have a problem. But when the son came into the picture, the relationship became a problem. I don’t really believe he wants anything to do with his son. He is just trying to make the mother of his child look bad. Btw isn’t there another woman who has staked claimed as him being the father of his child, as well? Dwight spare me the drama! You are suspect at best just like other NBA players who get caught in the mix. You are know different. Step up to the plate.
Just like you said. Two sides to every story. Her mom law sounds find and dandy, but one thing wrong with that. How much of this is for him and how much of this is you? He is only five years old. What are you feeding him ? Where are you trying to live? What kind of brithday party are you trying to give Him? How much can you buy a five year old for christmas? Kids are expensive, but lets be reasonalable.
Sounds like she is being very reasonable to me. He has the means to tie her up in court w/ mounting legal fees for years to come. He’s bringing in 1.3mil per Month and I’m sure she is not bringing in even that amount in a year. His plan could be to keep fighting her in court until her money runs out to get custody of his son. I do think the playing field should be even and he should pay. She has already spent 45K of her own money so to me that says alot. We all know Attorneys are pricey, and for Dwight money ain’t a thang.
You know what this mess is making me sick! First Usher now him! Why are these celeb dads fronting acting like they are gonna be with the kid 24/7. If anything they will be with family or worse a nanny. Now I don’t care too much for Tameka and I don’t know all the details(same as Royce vs. Dwight) but damn let the mamas keep the kids! The dads are always on the road working with groupies following them around. I just don’t get it. Be adults and just share joint custody. I’m a product of single parent household. My mom had full custody of me cause my dad wasn’t s**t! But I digress…the “fathers” need to stop! For real!
Dwight Howard??!!! Superman? Really? So agree with the other comment, the ONLY reason why he is coming forward is bc somebody must of put his azz on blast. I didn’t even know that was his son! He’s never claimed him! And Royce did him a favor by not puttin him on blast during the show- where she had the platform. Hell yeah he should pay. If he doesn’t, it won’t be a fair fight, and bc of money he will end up with custody. Both him and Usher are jackasses and should go play in traffic.
