Lil Mama Snags First Big Movie Role, Playing Left-Eye in New TLC Movie
Great news for Lil Mama! According to MC Lyte, the “Lipgloss” rapper has been cast as the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in a made for TV film about the superstar trio, TLC. MC Lyte told HipHolHollywood at the Vibe Impact Awards:
“She just got the role as Left Eye in TLC’s new movie. I am so excited for her… I’m gonna put a little bit of my concentration and focus on helping to uplift a sister who is talented, smart, witty, and just had her chances cut too short, and that’s Lil Mama ’cause she is a talented young lady.”
TLC’s surviving members, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins will serve as consultants and executive producers of the film, which is currently in pre-production. The film will explore the group’s career from the early years with “Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip,” to their financial woes and comeback, to Left-Eye’s premature death in 2002. No word on an official release date for the fil yet, but we will keep you posted.
