[VIDEO] White House Denies President Obama Spoke With Jay-Z About Cuba Trip
The White House says that we shouldn’t take art so literally–specifically a song that was dropped by Jay-Z early Thursday morning, titled ‘Open Letter‘. In the song, Jay rhymes,
“I turned Havana into Atlanta. Boy from the hood. I got White House clearance. Obama said, ‘Chill you gonna get me impeached. You don’t need this sh*t anyway, chill with me on the beach'”
While some would believe that Jay and Obama had a conversation about the Carter’s Cuba trip, the powers that be say that this wasn’t the case. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, cleared the rumor earlier today, during a White House press briefing. Carney explained:
“I guess nothing rhymes with Treasury… because Treasury offers and gives licenses for travel, as you know, and the White House has nothing to do with it. I am absolutely saying that the White house from the President on down had nothing to do with anybody’s travel to Cuba that is something that Treasury handles.”
He continued:
“It’s a song, Donovan [referring to the Politico reporter that asked the question]. The President did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip.”
