[VIDEO] Kanye West Takes Over Governor’s Ball With New Music, Tells Concert Goers: ‘I Could Give A F**** About Selling A Million Records’
No kilt, but a pair of Air Yeezy II’s will do! One day after celebrating his 36th birthday, Kanye West but on a grand show for the Governor’s Ball.
Taking place on New York’s Randall’s Island, Yeezy closed out the three day festival. Rocking a fresh pair of unreleased sneakers, he performed classic hits, along with a few new ones off of his new album like ‘Black Skinhead’ and ‘I Am God’. And unlike his usual self, he did very little ranting, in between on song, explaining:
This is usually part of the show where i start complaining about sh*t…justifying sh*t but you know how it is….I’m just happy to be making music….and happy to be able to perform that sh*t for y’all. You know with this album, we ain’t drop no single on the radio. We ain’t got no big NBA campaign or nothing like that…sh*t we ain’t even got no cover…We just made some real music….
He continued:
Back then we used to go work on an album for like 5 months….then we’d come back and wait for the label to pick the perfect time to release it. When you listen to radio, that isn’t where I want to be any more….And, honestly, at this point, I could give a f–k about selling a million records. I’ll drop it when I want and I’ll sell more records. Because at this point, I don’t really care about outside opinions. The only thing I care about is my clique.
Gotta respect his confidence! Check out footage for last night’s show.
