ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel explained Monday night on his show that this entire video was done by his team as a joke and stuntwoman, Daphne Avalon. On Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, she that admitted some people who know her — including a high school boyfriend — thought the video was real. The late night talk show host added,

Even though the video was fake, that did not stop hundreds of news outlets from showing it. Some people even blamed MileyCyrus, as if this was her fault. Thank you for helping us deceive the world and hopefully put an end to twerking forever.
