[WATCH] Aisha Tyler Confesses She Can’t Get Pregnant: ‘The Hardest Part Is I Really Love My Husband’
As part of big secrets week, ‘The Talk’ co-host and comedian, Aisha Tyler revealed her painful struggle with infertility. The 42-year-old shared the very candid confession with other members of the show which include Sheryl Underwood and Sharon Osbourne. Since 2011, Tyler and husband of more than 2o years, Jeff Tietgens, had tried repeatedly to conceive a child through the IVF process.
We went through the process. There are all these shots, they make your body crazy, they make you emotional, they hurt. I was getting shots every day. I wasn’t telling you guys — my husband and I were going through this at home together. He hated giving me the shots, he probably cried more than I did.
After going through a lot of procedures and spending a lot of money … the doctor said, ‘Look, based on what we’re seeing here, I just don’t think this is going to happen for you. You really need to think about whether you want to spend all this money and go though all this emotional effort and probably still not get pregnant.
She tearfully continued,
The hardest part is I really love my husband — he’s such a good person and he would be such a great father. It would be great to see a little him running around. But we just decided it wasn’t worth it to go through that and so we decided to stop.
It’s okay because I loved him and I don’t feel like there is anybody missing from our marriage. When you think about this person that you love and you think about what a wonderful thing it would be to bring another person like that into the world, I think that’s the hardest part about all of it.
Tyler admitted they were considering other avenues stating,
I love the idea of adoption, but I feel like this is such a fresh wound that I want to let it heal for a while before I think about what we could do.
