The buzz is growing about the new film, ’12 Years A Slave’, hitting theaters this weekend.
Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film is a 2013 British-American historical drama film based on the 1853 autobiography Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, a free black man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. in 1841 and sold into slavery. He worked on plantations in the state of Louisiana for 12 years before his release. This week, a number of cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, DC and Los Angeles hosted private screenings. A number of celebs (Rev. Al Sharpton, Laz Alonso, Cissy Houston, Laura Govan, Omarosa, Lil Mama, Roland Martin, etc.) were spotted hitting the carpet in support. Check out the photos.
