Regina King Lands New Show On FX, The Strain

Regina King is back on the small screen. King appeared who appeared on TNT’s hit show Southland for five seasons has snagged a role on FX’s The Strain. The drama centers around a mysterious viral outbreak of vampire attacks and the 42-year-old actress and director will play the manager of a womanizing rock star. If you’ve been keeping up with this busy lady, this news follows up her latest guest starring appearance on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory.
Earlier this year, King spoke to us about her first film as a director Let The Church Say Amen explaining,
It’s a movie about a pastor who’s dedicated his life to his church and neglected his family. And when we meet this family, it’s when the kids are growing up and kind-of adds to the height of the dysfunction – the result of the father not being there. And it makes you laugh, it makes you cry. Amazing performances by Steve Harris, Lela Rochon, Hosea Chanchez – so I’m really excited about that.
King also stars in upcoming Lifetime biopic on the life of two-time Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas, creatively titled The Gabby Douglas Story, in which she’ll play Gabby’s mother.
