Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade Make 1st Public Appearance Since Announcing New Baby

Newly engaged couple Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union aren’t having the best press week. On Monday, fans were shocked to learn that Miami Heat guard had fathered a son outside of his relationship with his fiancee actress. Before the Heat’s game against Denver, Wade acknowledged that the reports were true, telling the Sun Sentinel:

I had a time, a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy. So I’m moving on. I’m in the public eye, so obviously that’s a part of it. It comes with the territory.

Just a few days after the news hit, the couple made their first public appearance on New Year’s Eve. Prior to to NY, Gabrielle took a girls trip with some of her close girlfriends for some quality bonding. However, D.Wade and Gabrielle rang in 2014 together, on Bimini Island in the Bahamas. His Heat teammate Christopher Bosh and his wife Adrienne celebrated with the couple, alongside Gabrielle’s friend and life coach, AJ Johnson.

The official birth certificate of D.Wade’s newborn son has been released. Named Xavier Zachariah Wade, he was born Nov. 10, 2013, to Aja Metoyer. Aja has two other children with Damon Wayans Jr. and lives in Los Angeles. D.Wade maintains that the child was conceived while he and Gabrielle were having a ‘break’ from their relationship. To date, no further information has yet been released.
