[EXCLUSIVE] Timbaland Suing Concert Promoter for 500k
Then the promoter explained that less than a month before the shows, the rapper/producer said he had to reschedule the concerts without providing a reason. Then, they say they learned Timbaland scheduled a series of concerts in Finland on the same dates. They said in docs when they contracted him he demanded the remaining of the $500k owed under the contract, which they refused. They filed suit against him for return of the $500k upfront payment and damages.
Last week, Timbaland fired back at the concert promoter and counter-sued them for breach of contract. He explains that the promoter was, “unprofessional and couldn’t comply with the terms of the contract.”
He also says they failed to pay him the $500k upfront on time; didn’t pay him the $447k they agreed to for transportation on time; the promoter used his image and name in advertisements, along with using his likeness for endorsement tie-ins without his approval which was violated the terms of the contract; named the series of concerts the “Shock Value 2008 Australian Tour” without his approval; released a set list that was not his to the concert goers and didn’t get the proper technical set up for him. Showtime also failed to get a $7 million insurance policy for the concerts.
He says he tried to reschedule for later dates but they couldn’t properly pull the show together.
Then he says his lawyers told the promoter they were terminating the deal, retaining the $500k and demanding the remaining $500k due immediately. He is suing them for unspecified damages for their actions. Read the Exclusive Court Documents
