(EXCLUSIVE) NFL Star Terrell Suggs Loses Legal Battle w/ Deceased Ex-Agent
Suggs says he was obligated to pay Wichard 3% of his salary for the entirety of his deal — but in exchange, Wichard’s agency would actively manage his career and take care of everything from seeking endorsement deals to booking doctor appointments.
But when Wichard passed in 2011, Suggs says the agency kicked T-Sizzle to an “inexperienced and unqualified agent.”
Suggs says the new agent completely dropped the ball — and when he had his best season in 2011, the agent failed to score him any major endorsement deals that usually result from “such outstanding on-field play.”
Despite the allegations, Wichard’s estate has demanded $192k from Suggs, which he refused to pay. The dispute went to an arbitrator — who ultimately ruled against Suggs. The NFL star filed suit demanding the arbitrators ruling be thrown out and he not pay anything to the estate.
Then on March 24th, the federal court judge came back with his decision siding with the estate of the deceased agent. The order states that the arbitrator made the ruling based on the law and the contracts that Suggs signed with Wichard.
Further, it states that the contract specifically stated that the agent would be paid for the contract he negotiated, which Wichard did and therefore he is owed the money due on Suggs 72 mill contract.
The federal court judge ordered that Suggs pay up on the 192k owed, continue to follow the contract provisions and pay the estate their percentage and also hand over interest on the amount owed to his ex-agents family. See the exclusive court docs.
