Jada Pinkett-Smith Snags ABC Series, ‘Murder Town’
Penned by Barry Schindel, (“Intelligence”) the show depicts Pinkett-Smith as the first African-American District Attorney in Wilmington, Delaware. As she makes career history, her character is forced to deal with racism, deceit and the corruption associated with her husband’s death. Pinkett-Smith will not only be acting in the series, but she will serve as executive producer alongside writer Barry Schindel and Miguel Melendez.
Murder Town is part of ABC’s initiative to incorporate diversity and color into their lineup. With the success of Black-ish and American Crime, the network is excited about continuing to break barriers in television. When asked about her upcoming role and opportunities, Pinkett-Smith had this to say,
[I’d] be down to [find] a character who makes me want to go to work everyday, but I’d absolutely do more television. I love the pace of television. TV is so different from movies because of the pace. I think that people who survive doing TV can survive anything.
