(EXCLUSIVE) Rich Homie Quan Pleads with Judge to Not Block Him From Releasing New Music
On November 11th, the record label headed back to court and slapped Rich Homie Quan with a counter-suit accusing him of breaching their deal and demanding an injunction against him from releasing ANY music and also prohibiting him from signing with another record label.
The record label explained Rich Homie Quan signed a exclusive recording agreement with them back in 2012. They said they invested many hours and money into promoting and marketing his career.
However, they said several months after he signed the deal he began to evade his contractual obligations to the label.
The suit says that in spring 2013, Rich Homie Quan ceased consulting with them about his career in regards to his music, concert tours, endorsements, appearances etc. The rapper began releasing mixtapes, songs, signed up for tour with Wiz Khalifa and became a spokesperson for Avion Tequila.
Think it’s Game Entertainment said the rapper never accounted for the money he made from the unauthorized music he released, provided them with the details for his Tequila deal and didn’t hand over any money from merchandise sold at the concert with Wiz.
The label slapped Rich Homie Quan with a counter-suit demanding full accounting for all money he has made from his deals, an injunction against the rapper from releasing unauthorized videos, songs and mixed tapes and an order prohibiting the rapper from entering into a new record deal. They stated that the rapper has been taking meeting attempting to sign a new record deal with other labels.
Think it’s Game Entertainment explained the deal Rich Homie Quan signed with them gives them 50% ownership of all songs he releases and they want the court to order their original contract as valid.
Then recently, Rich Homie Quan fired back explaining that he didn’t breach the contract and that was the label and due to them breaking the contract first he can’t be held liable.
The rapper also pleads with the judge to shoot down the injunction the record label is seeking to prohibit him from releasing any music without their permission.
Rich Homie Quan also denies violating the contract by booking side deals without informing the label. Further, he says per his deal he never had to give accounting of his merchandise sold to them – specifically the products sold during his touring with Wiz Khalifa.
He is demanding the entire counter-suit against him be thrown out and his ex-label be awarded nothing from their complaint.
