Nick Young Calls Wedding Planning With Iggy Azalea A ‘Nightmare’ + Baller Talks Kanye West’s ‘Facts’
Nick Young of the Los Angeles Lakers, otherwise known as Swaggy P, has had a pretty good 2016 so far with his teammates due to New Year’s wins against Philly’s 76ers and the Phoenix Suns. Although Young and his team have not had a banner season (the Lakers’ have had 28 disappointing losses so far), 2015 did end on something of a high note with the New Years Eve release of Kanye West’s “Facts” where the baller and a number of other sports players’ names are dropped in verses of the song. In a recent conversation with Billboard, Young discusses “Facts,” the song’s affect on the team, and wedding planning with his fiancee Iggy Azalea.
On the song West raps the following lyrics,
Now we hottest in the streets, it ain’t no discussion. James Harden, Swaggy P runnin’ up the budget.
Young told Billboard of his surprise when his teammates told him about it:
Aw man, I was on my way home, trying to get dressed for my New Year’s event and a couple of my teammates called and texted me [about the song] and I didn’t know what they was talkin’ about. I was like, ‘Y’all playin’, y’all lyin’, man.’ They sent me the SoundCloud [link] and I was like, ‘Aw, it’s over. I’m the man now.’
Now it seems that the Lakers have taken a strong liking to the song and Young says,
It’s an international anthem. It’s for the world. We play it when we comin’ out. I’ma make sure the DJ play it on the layup line.
Although the Lakers recent three game winning streak was brought to a halt January 5 with a 109-88 loss to the Golden State Warriors, Young says the team is set to play with,
A high amount of confidence and that’s due to Kanye and Yeezy season leading this season.
Back in June 2015, Young popped the question to his then-girlfriend Australian rapper Iggy Azalea and did so with a 10.43-carat yellow diamond ring. The couple has since been planning their nuptials but apparently it hasn’t been all fun and games. Young called the planning process
A nightmare in its own. I think we should go to the courthouse. [Laughs] It’s tough, it takes a lot of time and compromising and arguing but eventually the women always win. I think [wedding days] should just be women’s day.
He certainly sounds confident, though, when talking about his soon-to-be wife’s upcoming album “Digital Distortion:”
It’s gonna be the best album of 2016. I got my Swaggy P feature on it so that’s why it’s gon’ blow up. [Laughs] I see how hard she be in the studio and I heard a couple songs. Couple surprises and a lot of features on there. It’ll be dope.
