DJ Khaled Hints At New Collab With Kim Kardashian, How He Stays Away From ‘They’ [VIDEO]
Miami’s “We The Best” music producer DJ Khaled recently took his talents to the The Cruz Show. The 40-year-old blossoming mogul dishes on the ‘major keys’ to life, how he invaded Snapchat, working with Kim Kardashian-West and Kendrick Lamar and dealing with’THEY’. Peep a few excerpts.
On his relationship with Snapchat:
This Snapchat thing is serious…this is love…and I’m just being me
On working with Kim Kardashian-West:
Kim is a mogul…I got to talk to Kim about some great things and she came up with a great idea that I can’t say yet but you’re going to know soon. It’s going to be big and I want her to make the announcement…Look out for a big collabo…It’s classic.
On dealing with the haters he calls “THEY”:
Even when I meet THEY, I show love. So hopefully love will rub off…
On not feeling disrespected about not winning a Grammy:
Do I get frustrated? Yes. Do I get disappointed? Absolutely. But it just makes me go harder…I remember one time they said I would never be on the BET big stage and I ended up getting on the big stage probably four or five times…I remember they would tell me that I would never get nominated for a Grammy. I got nominated for a Grammy. So, you know, I wish I would’ve won a Grammy and I feel like I will. I just got to work harder but I don’t ever get mad, I just get inspired. I just take that energy and do it more…
On his upcoming music:
I got some keys boy…I want to give y’all a presentation.
On his favorite verses:
That Lil Wayne ‘Takin Over’… Everybody’s verse on ‘I’m On One’…Ludacris on ‘All I Do Is Win’…Trick Daddy on ‘I’m So Hood.’ It’s not one verse. I would say the records; the anthems as a whole. I got anthems…
On a possible collaboration with Kendrick Lamar:
I am talking to Kendrick Lamar about an anthem I want him on. He’s
waiting on me actually…I want to make sure it’s perfect. It’s ready…Me
and Kendrick been talking about it…Definitely expect something…I ain’t
giving up. I’ma get that…It’s coming…
On the keys to being a great music man:
I make hits, I find hits, and I put hits out.
On success:
Success will open up a lot of doors for you. The success key…Anything you do…Keep winning. That’s the answer…
