Mike Epps Talks Justin Bieber’s Dreadlocks & Nina Simone Movie Controversy

This week, Mike Epps stopped by The Wendy Williams Show and dished about Hot Topics, playing Richard Pryor and the controversy surrounding the upcoming Nina Simone movie. When asked who he thought was more powerful, Kanye West or Jay Z, Mike replied,

I think Kim’s mama is more powerful than both of them. She’s the real puppet master!

They also talked about Justin Bieber’s new dreadlocks, Wendy added,

People are pissed, I’m not offended. They’re acting like he’s stolen a culture. Are you offended?

Mike said,

No, I think that’s a good look for him, that’s Bob Marley’s new son, Justin Marley.

Epps will be starring as Richard Pryor in the Richard Pryor movie which includes stars like Kate Hudson and director Lee Daniels.

I give all the glory to God. We all know how hard it is in this business for black African-Americans, and just to get an opportunity to play a king, somebody that’s great like that, I’m humbly thankful for that.

Mike also plays Richard Pryor in the upcoming Nina Simone movie starring Zoe Saldana. He spoke about the controversy surrounding the casting. Mike said,

I love Zoe. She’s a great actress. Netflix put a documentary out about Nina Simone before this movie came out which was incredible and the people who didn’t know her got educated on it and were blown away. So for this movie to come out after that, its kind of hard. You are following the real Nina Simone. My kids didn’t know who Nina Simone was, this was an education for them. It’s all film, you do it and you just keep going.
