Actor Wendell Pierce Arrested For Allegedly Assaulting Woman
Wendell Pierce, who recently starred opposite Kerry Washington in HBO’s ‘Confirmation’, found himself behind bars. Over the weekend, the actor was arrested. According to multiple reports, he allegedly physically assaulted a woman who supports presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
The incident happened on Saturday, in Atlanta, at the Loews Hotel. The story goes Wendell, who supports Hillary Clinton, and a woman and her boyfriend, who support Bernie Sanders, sparked up a conversation about politics.
Allegedly, things got heated in the conversation. No word on what was exactly said, but Wendell allegedly became enraged pushing the woman’s boyfriend and then grabbed the woman’s hair and hit her in the head.
The couple called security and Wendell was arrested, booked and later released after posting $1,000 bond. Wendell has yet to comment.
Pierce is best known for his roles in HBO dramas, such as Detective Bunk Moreland in The Wire and trombonist Antoine Batiste in Treme, and as Michael Davenport in Waiting to Exhale. Currently Pierce has a starring role as Teddy on the CBS sitcom The Odd Couple.
