Jussie Smollet Reacts To Rumors He Quit ‘Empire’ [VIDEO]
Is Jussie Smollet REALLY leaving ‘Empire’? After last week’s episode the actor/singer posted a tweet that led some to believe that he may be leaving the hit Fox show.
He wrote:
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time w/ @EmpireFOX. I love you all. Truth. Time 2 make a record & some movies. #Empire ?
And now, he’s sorta kinda addressing it. During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, he says
I sent out a tweet and apparently it got fans spinning, that’s all I can tell you about that. Listen, I mean it’s all love and everything will, you know, all come together in the season finale and all will make sense. All of the questions will be answered, the holes will be filled, and the ribbons will be tied in a nice little bow.
See the clip.
Jussie began his acting career for summer fun in 1987 starring in national network commercials in NYC. He later co-starred in the films The Mighty Ducks (1992) and Rob Reiner’s North (1994). In 2015, Smollett received rave reviews for his portrayal of musician Jamal Lyon in the Fox music-industry primetime TV drama Empire.
In Empire Jussie plays the middle son of the Lyon family, a talented, gay singer-songwriter who despises the corporate aspect of the music industry. He is estranged from his homophobic father who considers him the “black sheep” of the family.
We’re not sure if Jussie’s twitter announcement means he’s throwing up the deuces or simply trying to build anticipation for the next season. In either case, can Empire make it without him?
