Did Beyonce Scare Rachel Roy Into Leaving Fashion Awards? (Ear Hustlin’)

Rumor has it, when Rachel Roy discovered Beyonce would be in attendance at the CFDA Fashion Awards, she dipped — literally. A source tells Page Six that the designer quietly grabbed her place card and left the dinner before Beyoncé ever entered the room as the surprise recipient of the night’s Fashion Icon Award.

As you know, last month, Rachel caused quite a fire storm for making a joke implying that she may have been ‘Becky with the good hair’, a line from Beyonce’s Lemonade album.

Anywho, Roy dressed model Candice Huffine and arrived on the red carpet with her, posing for photogs. Reportedly, as the gala began, rumors spread that Beyoncé might attend. Shortly thereafter, Beyoncé, her daughter, Blue Ivy, and mom, Tina Lawson, and husband Jay Z showed up. But Roy jetted out before Beyoncé arrived onstage. A source says,

She disappeared with her place card and never came back. It was “weird. I don’t know if it was because she’s ‘Becky,’ or what?”

Another source added,

Rachel just came and left.

Meanwhile, a friend of Roy’s explained she exited the awards only because she had to catch an early flight the next day to be with her kids in LA. Click here for flix of the red carpet.
