Issa Rae Snags First Look Producing Deal With HBO
More great news for producer Issa Rae. The co-creator, executive producer and star of HBO’s upcoming comedy series Insecure, has snagged a first-look producing deal with HBO. What does this mean? With the two-year deal, she will develop programming focused on diverse voices that would be targeted for all HBO platforms including HBO GO and HBO NOW.
Her new series, which was co-created with Larry Wilmore, premieres Oct. 9. It follows the friendship of two modern-day black women, Issa (Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) and all of their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations.
Insecure features themes Rae tackled in her successful webseries, The Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl, which won a Shorty Award. Check out the teaser to Insecure below.
