(EXCLUSIVE) Wiz Khalifa Demands $2 Million Legal Battle With Ex-Manager Be Thrown Out of Court
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Wiz Khalfia is demanding the $2 million dollar legal battle with his ex-manager be thrown out of court. The rapper says he doesn’t owe him and is accusing him of being the one to breach their contract.
Here’s the latest: Wiz has returned to court, demanding his ex-manager’s entire case be tossed out of court. The rapper explains he believes the original deal is unenforceable by “reason of menace perpetrated by Rostrum”. He claims the manager breached the deal first, resulting in the deal being void and therefore he cannot demand a cut of his income.
Even if the court finds his ex-manager entitled to damages, he says any amount needs to be off-set by the damages he is owed in his suit. He is demanding Rostrum Record’s $2 million counter-suit be thrown out of court, his ex-manager cover his legal bills and his lawsuit to continue.
Here’s the backstory: Earlier this year, the rapper filed suit against his former manager Benjy Grinberg and his company Rostrum Records. Wiz signed with the company back in 2005, when he was still an up-and-coming artist. They ceased working together in March 2014.
The rapper accused his manager of steering him towards business deals that benefitted him more than Wiz. He pointed to his one album-record deal with Warner Music, which had the provision for the label to demand five options for additional albums.
He said his manager was only looking out for his own best interests and failed to give him all the information before making business decisions. Wiz filed suit demanding the contract be terminated plus $1 million dollars in punitive damages
Rostrum Records & Benjy responded to the lawsuit, accusing him of screwing them out of $2 million +. They claimed their original deal paid the company 15% of his touring and music royalties along with 20% in merchandise sales.
The company hit the rapper with a counter-suit demanding their cut of his music, touring and merchandise sales, to the tune of $2 million dollars.
