Michel’le Prepping Book + Dr. Dre & Suge Knight Remain Mum
Michel’le Prepping Book + Dr. Dre & Suge Knight Remain Mum
Fresh off of telling her story on her Lifetime biopic Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le, the singer has more to tell. Over the weekend, she revealed that she was prepping for a book. She shared the news while responding to a fan on Twitter. See below.
On Saturday, her biopic aired and received rave reviews from viewers. Played by actress Rhyon Nicole Brown, the made for TV film shared her life story, along with revealing the alleged abuse that she received at the hands of Dr. Dre throughout the course of their relationship, a claim he denies.
The film’s executive producer, Leslie Greif, confirmed that Dre fired off a cease and desist letter to Sony Pictures to try to axe the film airing.
I heard Sony said they vetted the film and stand by it, and will not allow Michel’le’s voice to be silenced. They’re supporting this picture … These are not new stories. Dr. Dre and Suge Knight have not seen the film to my knowledge, and are presupposing what they did and how it might make them appear on screen.
The biopic also portrays Michel’le’s relationship with Suge Knight, the co-founder of Death Row Records. Dre nor Suge (who is currently in jail) have yet to respond publicly or through their reps about the film.
