Ellen Pulls The Plug On Kim Burrell’s Appearance
Ellen Disinvites Kim Burrell
Ellen DeGeneres has pulled the plug on Kim Burrell’s scheduled appearance on her show, ELLEN. On Tuesday (January 3rd), she tweeted:
For those asking, Kim Burrell will not be appearing on my show.
Kim had been scheduled to perform this week, with Pharrell Williams, promoting a collaborative song from the Hidden Figures soundtrack.
Reportedly, Ellen (who is openly gay) uninvited Kim, over her recent remarks about gay people. As previously reported, during a recent sermon the 44-year-old artists preached about homosexuality being a sin:
I came to tell you about sin. That sin nature. That perverted homosexual spirit, and the spirit of delusion and confusion, it has deceived many men and women.
She continued,
You as a man, you open your mouth and take a man’s penis in your face, you are perverted. You are a woman and will shake your face in another woman’s breast, you are perverted.
See footage from her sermon below.
After receiving some backlash, Kim took to Facebook Live clarifying her statements:
We’re not in a war against flesh and blood. I came on because I care about God’s creation and every person from the LGBT and anything else, any other kind of thing that is supporting gay. I never said LGBT last night. I said S-I-N and whatever falls in the sin was preached.
Here’s a clip of her clarifying her statements below:
