Denzel Washington’s Future Was Predicted By Complete Stranger

He adds,

So I say when she left I said to my mother ‘who is that lady?’ and she said well she is one of the oldest church members in town and she is known to have the gift of prophecy. I am sitting there having flunked out of college, ‘well does she know anything about me getting back in school’, you know I was a wise guy, ‘can she prophesized me getting back in school?’ This was supposed to be my life she actually called it before, it is nothing that I did it is by the grace of God, and she called it so I knew I had a purpose. So when things started happing I had to understand that this was supposed to happen. Now I am not here to tell you that I did all the right things.

Denzel also opens up about being emotional at the SAG Awards (see the clip above). He says,

I do not know where that came from. Well you know I like seeing other people do well. I grew up in a boys club, I was a coach I did all of that. In fact when I started acting I was working at a YMCA camp as a counselor, so I have always been one to help kids and help people do better that is just my nature. I knew that I wanted to mention them. What I had prepared was in case we won best cast, I was assuming that I was not going to win Best Actor. So never assume number one, just being able to say Steven Henderson and those guys Michael T. that do not necessarily get days like today.
