Rachel Dolezal Compares Herself to Caitlyn Jenner
Rachel Dolezal compares the struggles that she’s experienced to those that Caitlyn Jenner has faced. While promoting her new memoir, the former NAACP leader states,
Every category of our identity comes with its own unique circumstance. There is some similarity in terms of harmonizing the outer appearance with the inner feeling, in terms of stigmatized identities, some people will forever see me as my birth category and nothing further. And the same with Caitlyn.
Further clarifying her identity, she says,
I should have said I’m a pan-African, prio-black, bisexual mother, artist, activist. I haven’t identified as African-American. I have identified as black. Black is a culture of philosophy, a political and social view. I believe race is a social construct.
In 2015, Rachel made headlines after her parents revealed that she was white. She resigned from her role with NAACP chapter in Spokane, Wash. She also reportedly lost her job at Eastern Washington University.
