Chris Rock To Produce ‘The Rundown With Robin Thede’
BET has announced a new late night show, The Rundown with Robin Thede. The show is set to air this fall (24 episodes) and will be hosted by Robin Thede, a comedic actress, writer, sketch and improvisational comedian. The 30-minute news satire series will be executive produced by Robin, along with Chris Rock and Jax Media, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, John Skidmore and Genevieve Anniello.
Each episode will see the comedian take on the week’s headlines in politics and pop culture with a fast-paced, no-holds-barred show that will feature social commentary, sketch comedy and pop culture parodies.
Thede was a writer and performer on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. From 2015-16 she was the head writer for the first season and a half of The Nightly Show, and the first black woman to hold that position on any late-night talk show. Prior, she was head writer on The Queen Latifah Show and staff writer on the first two seasons of Real Husbands of Hollywood on BET. In January 2013, she appeared in the Marlon Wayans’ comedy A Haunted House opposite comedian JB Smoove. She also recurred as “Gail” on Second Generation Wayans on BET in March 2013. Thede often works on TV shows as both a writer and actress, including on the short-lived FOX series In the Flow with Affion Crockett, the Mike Epps sketch comedy series Funny Bidness, on the comedy series Clunkers (starring Carl Payne, David Faustino and Sherman Hemsley).
