Fetty Wap Settles Battle Over ‘Trap Queen’
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Fetty Wap scored a victory in the legal battle accusing him of stealing a Danish songwriter’s beat & turning it into his massive hit “Trap Queen”, with a confidential settlement being reached and the entire case being dismissed.
Here’s the latest: On June 26th, docs were filed in the case explaining the court has been advised that the parties reached a settlement. Per their confidential agreement, the case will be closed in 30 days once all obligations by the parties are completed.
Here’s the backstory: Danish songwriter, Lazar Lakic, sued Fetty and music producer Tony Fadd. He claimed he purchased an exclusive beat from the producer called “Hello” back in 2014.
However, he said he later heard the same beat used in Fetty’s hit ‘Trap Queen’ despite him having purchased it.
The producer was furious his beat was used and ended up going 4x platinum, without ever receiving a cut. He sued demanding all profits from “Trap Queen”, along with a court order directing the rapper to destroy all copies of the album.
Fetty responded saying he sold the songwriter a non-exclusive beat, but the deal allowed the producer to sell the same beat to multiple people. He demanded the suit be tossed. Fetty had not filed a response in the suit.
