Gina Torres To Star In ‘Suits’ Spinoff

She’s booked and busy! Reportedly, the team behind Suits is working on a spin-off starring Gina Torres, who plays powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson on Suits.

The spin-off pilot will be produced and written by Suits creator Aaron Korsh and executive-produced by  Daniel Arkin, Doug Liman, Davis Bartis and Gene Klein. The Season 7 finale of Suits, which is scheduled to air in early 2018, will also serve as a the pilot for potential spin-off centering around Jessica Pearson (Torres).

Suits is a legal drama television series created and written by Aaron Korsh. It is set at a fictional law firm in New York City. The focal point of the show follows talented college dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who initially works as a law associate for Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), despite never actually attending law school. The show focuses on Harvey and Mike managing to close cases while maintaining Mike’s secret.

Suits has been nominated for several awards since 2012, with Gina Torres and Patrick J. Adams receiving individual praise for their roles as Jessica Pearson and Mike Ross respectively. Torres’ TV credits outside of Suits include: Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (as Nebula), Xena: Warrior Princess (as Cleopatra), the short-lived Cleopatra 2525, Alias (as Anna Espinosa), Firefly (as Zoe Washburne), Angel (as Jasmine), 24 (as Julia Miliken),  The Shield (as Sadie Kavanaugh), and Westworld (as Lauren).

She is married to Laurence Fishburne.
